Just wondering if there were any plans to open up a forum spot for diesel and biodiesel discussion? I have been trying to keep track of stations offering Biodiesel, and it puzzles me why it isnt more popular. Biodiesel is huge in Europe, and it just makes sense for Canada to get on board and offer Biodiesel at a discount in relation to regular diesel. Its quite easy to make from almost any waste oil. Thanks

I can't answer whether or not there's moderator discussion about creating a new category for diesel and/or biodiesel, but as there's categories for as many individual car brands as there, it shouldn't be an unreasonable request to ask the moderators directly (via e-mail), making your case for a new category.

However, the way I read carnage's request, "wondering if there were any plans to open up a forum spot for diesel and biodiesel discussion?", I would think that all you're looking for is a topic that can be started in the current General Gas Talk discussion category as well as in the British Columbia discussion category, where it will be more local information. Simply create a new topic, with a clearly understandable topic name (not something like "diesel"), create an original post clearly describing the purpose of the thread, and then, in a follow-on post, make your entries. But don't use the original post to put in your stations names, prices, whatevers, etc.; use the original post to provide your instructions, guidance, or goal for follow-on posts.

That said, I would suggest that, even though there's not a discussion category for diesel, posting prices for diesel (and petroleum) periodically would help your fellow British Colunbia Gas Buddy members be more knowledgeable shoppers. Any information, be it in the discussions or prices, is better than no information.

My bad! You are correct kwzh. But until bio-diesel becomes a major grade in the US & Canada, I don't think a separate forums is necessary.

scoutmaster: The request was for a forum category, not fuel pricing.

carrnage: It's unfortunate that it doesn't exist yet -- in the meantime, I suppose "General Gas Talk" is probably the best fit.

Diesel forums have been requested several times in the past. I'm not sure why the mods ignore these requests. I can't imagine it would be particularly difficult to start another forum.

Do you own a vehicle that uses bio-diesel, carrnage? Until bio-diesel becomes a main grade, don't expect to see it on this site. This isn't Europe. Diesel prices are posted for stations that sell that grade.

carrnage: Is that the reason you have not contributed more to the site? You have been a member since May 2011 and have 475 points to show for it. The prices that you see are by and large due tho the efforts of other members updating prices. Why don't you begin contributing and update prices. That is information that other members can really use.
