Every time i rack up a bunch of posts on my forum the owners/moderator locks me out ........
Whats up with that??????
Why don't they just delete it ????
and why can't us BUDDYS delete our own posts?
Time to update this website again you guys... saw you moderators on TV and you make alot of money... time to give your buddy list people a little more control, what do you think?

I guess there would have been no confusion if BLT used a comma.

I can field that one. BLTHNDR directed a message to you, but abbreviated your handle to "SM". Then plastic, not catching the reference, asked what SM referred to. Then Scrapheap explained it.

Paul237...

Try rephrasing this. I doubt I am the only one who does not understand what you mean.

Thanks, Scrapheap. I should have thought of that. Duh on my part. Oh, and thanks for letting me borrow your earlier post (above).

I don't troll on the internet and I don't know what that is SM. But I do it when I am on my boat once and awhile.

I did make a mistake posting a " new thread " repetitively and I am sure
that moderators removed them ( which by the way I wanted them to do ) ---
but this notwithstanding; there is a poster, NO NAME, using threads and the topics/ threads never show in the message forum. This, in spite of his accumulating POSTS CREDITS.
What accounts for this. Again.....no names!!!!
BTW my Threads are still present under my Topics Started but I do not wish
to use any of them!!!!

Looking at the history of threads paul237 started, I would guess moderators are either moving or deleting your threads based on abuse. These threads seem repetitive and serve no purpose other than to hit the server, which slows the server down for the rest of us.

It made a difference to me today. I needed gas so I looked for the best price along my route. Gasbuddy made a $1.50 difference for me today.

I am starting to correct that dirt girl Just that some people on this site are real idiots and it turns me off trying to have fun on here.Oh by the way the spring gas prices suck.Check the oil/ gas prices for the last six months. The internet makes prices jump 10 to 20 cents in only 1 or 2 days.I am just disgusted that there is nothing we do on this site makes any difference.

BLTHNDR, Excuse me for pointing this out but if you look at the stats under your avatar it's rather obvious that you have long periods when you don't post to the forums or gas prices.

I don't monitor anyone. Each profile is a person and I try to remember and recognize the people in each community in which I am a part; whether it's in person or on line. I'm not fishing for anything. I'm merely pointing out, to those who were prodding for an explanation, that you come and go. That way they wouldn't be expecting a prompt answer. No one's gunnin' for you, bud.

It's your m.o., BLT. You come into the forums, make a few posts, then disappear for a while. You've done it for years.

“Why don't they just delete it ???? and why can't us BUDDYS [sic] delete our own posts?”

Forum topics are never deleted unless they are offensive in some way, don’t meet the site rules, etc. Otherwise topics that are old or no longer relevant are locked.

It would be nice if we could delete our own posts as long as there are no replies. That would obviate the need for posts saying, “Oops, posted in wrong thread” and stuff like that. It would not be fair to delete a post after there has been a reply since that amounts to censoring another member. The Edit feature allows one to delete the content of a post, leaving it blank, within the ten-minute edit period.

What are you talking about?

I looked at the topics you started. Nothing has been locked since last October, and a moderator explained why. The other topics you started were locked because they were very old. That happens automatically.

I looked at topics you participated in. The last topic you participated in that was locked was the one I referred to above.

I looked at the Chicago forum. Nothing has been locked in almost a year.

Are you sure that you are not accidentally clicking on the ignore link for the OP of the thread and locking yourself out?

Gas_buddy, imagine the baiting and trolling that could occur if one could open and close topics at will and could block certain folk from posting. It's a good idea but very subject to problems.

One of the reasons the moderators don't give open/close control access to members, including those that started the topic, in my opinion, is that it would provide members with the ability to censor topics because they disagree with responses to their comments/suggestion/etc., as well as, in essence, censor other members.

That said, just because the moderators "make alot of money" isn't a reason that they need to give control of the website to others. That's what I think. But I don't speak for them.

As for being locked out; are you saying they're locking you out personally and exclusively, but others can continue to participate in the thread, or if they're locking the entire thread?
