Two days ago, I bought an iPhone 4S 64 GB Verizon white without a contract. Same horrid price as the version in black. We learned our lesson and signed up for phone insurance just in case it gets lost again. I lost mine last night in Target but somebody turned it in at Guest Services.

Well, my HTC Vivid was $199, plus the $220/mo for the plan with my phone and my sons iphone on it, you do the math. We all spend WAY too much!!!

My Verizon plan is $30 for unlimited, including 4G LTE. That plan is no longer offered so I have to stick with it if I want to keep that plan forever.

The 4G is nice but I don't think it's really worth paying extra. At least not in my area. The 3G does fine for my purposes. The only time I appreciate the 4G is if I'm down/uploading a big file such as a photo or large app.

Yeah, Sprint charges $40 for unlimited everything on my plan except 4G. I gotta spend an extra $10 to get 4G.

$50/month is more than a phone is worth to me. I really don't want to pay that much for phone service, not worth it. Still, all the really cool phones now are 4G and with LTE launching next month, I may swallow 4G fee.

An extra $10/mo for 4G? I guess I'm grandfathered in to some plan where there is no extra charge for 4G. It is noticeably faster. At first there were some quirks, when you would go in and out of a 4G area, that would cause the data to turn off. You'd have to turn your data off then on again to reset it. Hadn't had that problem in a long time.

As usual, I'm a little late to the party. Although 4G has been around for 2 years, I'm still on 3G. But now I'm thinking of making the jump to 4G.

I never wanted to pay the extra $10/month for 4G, but I gotta admit that all the high performance phones are now 4G. The ones with dual core CPUs, large displays and just the better tech are all 4G.

Now that 4G has become pretty much mainstream, there is a large selection of handsets out there. (and a shrinking selection of 3G models) so the choice is clear.

I may have to up my price point though.

Yikes! I nearly choked when I had to reach into my wallet for $125 for my latest phone. Can't imagine spending over $800.

$125

I buy phones off a cellphone-centric message board from other board members. Those folks are obsessed with getting the latest handset. They keep their phones in a case with protectors as they want to sell it as in like new condition.

Works for me, I get a slightly out of the bleeding edge handset for cheap.

$60 for a old Nokia for an AT&T prepay plan.

My iPhone 4S cost 99 cents and I didn't even have to pay that. The phone was bought in a state where there is no sales tax, so that saved S30, too.
