Just wondering. My mom has an '83 DL Station Wagon with 341,000 miles on it. All original except the tranny. Let me know if there are more dinosaurs out there still running strong!!!

I had 2 till my wife said we had too many cars. my 1981 240 had only 230,000 miles on her when she got sold. My 01 s40 has 133,000 on her all original but sadly she believes it costs too much to up keep so it may be going the way of the dodo bird.

We have 2 other 240 volvoes. Both of them are 1982 models. The 244GL automatic we have owned since 1988 and it has 204,000 miles on and needs a lot of work. The 244Dl stick has 235,000 miles on it and is awaiting a new windshield and some fuel system work.

I have a 1979 242GT that now has 311,075 miles on it. I have the original engine and transmission. I bought the car in 2001 for $900.00 with 195,000 miles. Mostly I have done maintenance and fuel pumps and fuel pump relays, wheel bearings(all of them) seats radiator and U joints. The car on occasion will deliver 30 mpg if you can stand to drive it at 60 mph. I have driven it across the US 7 times in the last 6 years and done a circumnavigation of the US twice. (driving through all of the states that form the boundary of continental US.

I've got a '95 940 wagon with 220,000+ that's still chugging along. It's a great workhorse with few issues for its age.

Wow...I feel like mine's a baby in comparison to some posters!

I drive a '90 240 DL that only recently hit 130,000 miles. My family also had an '87 of the same model (probably the only car ever made in Smurf Blue) but the undercarriage rusted out thanks to too many northern winters. That one had well over 350,000 miles when it was 'retired' in 1999...

1984 245 just turned 300,000 miles, then got rear-ended hard by a 2004 Volvo. Not sure she will survive this. Messed up pretty bad. This really sucks, as I bought it new. It's older than my kids. It'll be like losing a family member.

I bought a 2000 S70 three years ago. I now have 187,009 on it. When I bought it for $2,000 at a car auction. It was a no start. But knowing Volvo's I figured that it was just a battery. And I was correct. Other than that. I just needed tires, brakes, and a wash job. lol It starts in the coldest weather and I have had people offer me twice as much as I have paid for it. I am now looking for a second Volvo for my daughter.

I had my 1978 244 DL till last year. It's odometer broke down at about 60k miles and I drove it like that for another 10 years. The odo broke down again after I had it repaired. I must have had over 200000 miles on it.

I have a 1988 745GLE with 231,000 miles & a 1990 745 turbo with 132,000 miles, both going strong. I do all the work on them myself. I go to self service recyclers to get parts. The dealer charges extremely high prices for all parts, For example, I needed a new outside door handle recently & the dealer wanted $156, Pick-N-Pull recycler-$6, I needed a new gas pump
relay-dealer-$70, Pick-N-Pull-$2. You get the idea.

297K on the '84 DL. Only put 2K on it in the last year. Wife started driving another car daily, so the DL sits in the garage. Still starts and runs good.
