Have used synthetic oil for several years used to use Castrol 10-40 and 20-50 regular for years before. Mobil 1 and Royal Purple and Castrol syntec I have used. Recently I have learned that they may not be all that they say. I may go to Amsoil or Stay lube as I understand that they are superior.

A real synthetic is PAO basestock and AMSOIL's PAO basestock oils are their signature in the industry. PAO oils (for automotive use) offer extended drain intervals and also typically increased mileage. However, even though synthetic oil heklps... mileage also depends on driving habits.
with my AUDI... mileage is not a concern, I care more about perfomance and long lasting engine protection.

Jeffrey, I run with Mobil 1 synthetic in all my cars. It is not recommended to extend oil change intervals.
My engines are clean, which is main reason I use it.
