Bush plan for ethanol to give a gift to midwest corn farmers. We are still paying for that gift to this day.

A BIG CONGRATS on 500 consecutive days again! Awesome! Wow, another milestone has arrived! : ) For most GBs (8M plus) they don't seem to have the dedication or the persistence it takes to come back and post gas prices each day for other GBs! Or they just run out of gas! :( Hang onto your speed lines, it only takes one day to lose them! I'm sure you know! But, even clicking on news articles links, which are the easiest points here on GasBuddy, when you can't or didn't post gas prices before midnight will save your consecutive days! : ) WARNING! Every day GBs lose their consecutive days, many with big numbers, the #1 reason, "oops, I just forgot!" :( If you ever lose your consecutive days; that is NO FAULT of your own, please contact the mods! Great question you posted. I have a 2012 Fusion that is averaging 20 MPG for me. Unless you are doing nothing but highway driving at a optimal speed with no AC I do not think you will ever get the high end of the MPG scale with a car. I do the typical city/freeway driving with daily traffic jams and my MPG's suck.

"So does this amount to "taking"? If I were to own the gas and the city told me I could not extract it I would want fair compensation. I suppose those cities have set up big funds to take care of that issue." WOW! Great post!
