What is your most likely reason to not fill your tank at the gas station?
Financial reasons, budget, timing etc.
I think it's more efficient to carry less weight.
Vehicle owned/used by others who buy their own gas
I know it will be cheaper elsewhere.
I'm in a hurry.
I keep track of my budget with even dollar amou

Keep the tank as full as long as possible, above half and watch prices. What used to be a $20.00 fillup is now 1/3 of a tank.

When I go to Whiskey Pete's in Primm and need gas to get back to Vegas, I'll only get about 0.9 gallons (or whatever the pump says) so I have enough to go to Huey's Mart 1, then I fill it all the way up there.

It costs too much to fill up- about $60 to fill up the tank on our Subaru Forester.

When the tank is almost totally empty, and I know that there is a cheaper station a distance, which I cant get to at the time, away.

Most times I will not fill all the way up because:
1)no it is significantly cheaper elsewhere.
2)If price trends are lowering.

If I need to make an emergency gas stop, if the price is 10 cents or more higher than my local station, I'll get enough to get me to where I'm going - rounded to the 10 or 20 dollar level. My attitude, filling up with 18 gallons and saving 15 cents per, buys my breakfast one morning.

depends on time of day and if the storage tanks are being filled at the time..i find it is better to fillup at night when it is cooler as i get more gas as you get less evaporation and when the truck is not filling the tanks as it stirs up crap in bottom of tanks and i don't want that in my tank...but thats just my thoughts..ttyl.

Back when the prices were under $2/gal I would ALWAYS fill it up. Whenever it goes over $2.50/gal I put about 20 bucks in. When the price spikes (like it always does), I put just enough in to make it to when I think the price will begin to fall.

Right before it shot up to $100/bbl I filled it up, but during the period when the price was hovering around $3/gal I only put about 5-6 gallons in at a time. The whole price/trend guessing is a big (enter expletive here) game. I don't EVER recall in the last 15 years when the price fluctuated as much as it has in the last 2 years.
