That will provide just another excuse for the speculators to jump and jack up prices, and then the refineries and distributors to raise prices when they don't need to. Maybe he should say something like: "Gas prices should be stable around the 4th, despite increases in crude". Just another excuse around the 4th for them to make more money.

As vibdata pointed out, we are no where near the low of where gas prices should be, yet we KNOW the gas stations will just jump up those prices as fast as they can change their numbers on their signs.

So you can figure that out pretty easy. Even though the prices have nowhere near reached the level they should have due to wholesale pricing (they should be much lower), they will certainly jump up on this unexpected greedy trading. If you want to see the price of gas, look at the futures. NOW.
