Ky. coal producers win $7B contract

Tennessean / Courier Journal -- Kentucky coal producers have reached an agreement to export 9 million tons of coal annually to India for the next 25 years in a $7 billion deal that is a much needed shot in the arm to the region’s sagging mining industry.

The deal, which would represent about 8% of Kentucky’s annual coal production, could help avert future power outages such as the one last week that left more than 600 mil. people without electricity.

New Jersey-based FJS Energy LLC signed the deal with India’s Abhijeet Group to purchase coal exports from Kentucky and West Virginia through Kentucky-based affiliates FJSE Marshall and FJSE River Coal.

But then, when have Americans of the past 40 or 50 years really cared what happens to others.

Really? It would be the biggest Nuclear War you could ever imagine. The strength of the US is that we have many form of energy....and don't depend on just 1 or 2 sources. Beside....with current technology, it would have to be either Canada or Mexico that would have to have the rockets to do so. Right now the only thing we don't like about the Canadian for is clogging up the lines at Costco. Scary!

But, it's jobs for Kentucky and that’s a good thing. Whatever the size or shape of the vehicle, Produce and ‘Drive’ vehicles with high MPG, are very safe, reliable, have a ‘reasonable’ cost and a good ‘value’ for the money. Consider using other forms of less expensive transportation to lower your cost. The price of fuel at the pump is too high! 12/22/2012!

It will probably be burned with lower standards for pollution control in India than in the US. Much Kentucky and West Virginia coal is mined by mountaintop removal / valley fill, which is extremely destructive. The mine owners and shippers will make a lot of money, the mine workers will make a little money, and the global environment will suffer.

If a foreign nation had launched an attack on America to destroy its coal-fired plants, to shut down its coal mines, and to thwart its ability to drill for oil and natural gas, we would be at war with it.

India is another idiot country that has no environmental standards. At over a billion of them, so what if a few million die a year. I see it as more air for me, more food and water for me. We need to bring "Clean Coal Technology" to the world as well as here. We'll have a couple of hundred years worth of energy without dropping like flies.
